c. What the application does:
The application shows the motion of a swinging Atwood machine. A swinging Atwood Machine consists of a horizontal bar with a pulley at each end. A cord is passed over the pulleys with a weight at each end. The cord has a fixed length but is free move over the pulleys. The wights can have different values. The right end weight hangs downward and is free to move vertically. The left end weight can be pulled to the side at an angle to the vertical. When released the left weight is free to swing.
d. What the application is used for at CSULA:
The application is used in a class on Classical Dynamics to illustrate the concepts developed in lectures on the use of Lagranges equation.
e. The application was developed using NeXT release 1.0.
f. No special installation instructions required.
g. Comments:
Brief instructions on using the application are given in a Help window which is part of the application.
